Life, he explained, is a lot like driving a car. To reach your destination, you must balance where you place your attention.
Stare too long in the rearview mirror, caught in regret or nostalgia, and you risk missing what’s unfolding in front of you. The road ahead disappears while you’re stuck reliving roads already traveled.
Spend all your time looking out the side windows and mirrors, comparing yourself to others, and you’ll drift off course, chasing lanes that were never meant for you.
But when you focus forward, everything changes.
You keep your eyes on the windshield, centered on your own path. You glance in the side mirrors with awareness, not envy, to understand the pace and position of those around you. And you check the rearview just enough to remember the lessons of the past and spot anything that might be coming up fast behind you.
Drive with balance. Move with purpose. Focus forward.
